Hiddink may consider Chelsea's offer

THERE are indications that Chelsea may retained Guus Hiddink, as the Russian coach has revealed that he had "second thoughts" over his decision not to extend his time as the Blues' manager.

Hiddink has made a big impression since taking over at Stamford Bridge but will leave at the end of the season to carry on his full-time job as Russia boss. However, the BBC quoted the 62-year-old as saying after Chelsea's 2-0 win over Blackburn: "I've many second thoughts, sometimes third thoughts.

"When I see the reaction of the players I feel a kind of sadness but I have to leave and that is the reality."

Hiddink bid an emotional farewell to the Stamford Bridge crowd at the club's final home game of the season in which Chelsea fans held up placards begging the Dutchman to stay and sang songs urging owner Roman Abramovich to keep him as manager. He was also given a guard of honour by his players, many of whom have repeatedly voiced their desire to see him remain in charge.

From the day he was appointed on February 11, Hiddink has always insisted that he was only taking the reigns on a temporary basis before concentrating efforts on getting Russia to the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. According to him, "Russia is a country that needs to be developed.

"I have given my commitment to them, with pleasure, and I have to fulfil that. But that does not mean that it is not difficult to leave this atmosphere."

Hiddink has guided Chelsea to a third-place finish in the Premier League, with one game remaining, and will lead it out at Wembley as it takes on Everton in the FA Cup final on the 30th of this month. His Blues squad also came within minutes of reaching a second successive Champions League final before a late goal from Barcelona ended their hopes.

Hiddink accepted that whoever succeeds him - BBC Sport understands that AC Milan's coach Carlo Ancelotti is the top target - must look to refresh the squad to remain competitive. He added: "When you want to compete, you have to renew your squad almost every year. For the FA Cup, Carling Cup, Premier League and Champions League, you need a squad of real depth in quality.

"If you want to compete for first position, you need to be able to use a lot of players. You have to analyse the squad; the players who are now 'ageing', around 30, they need also to be rested every now and then."

Hiddink revealed that he was surprised by the outpouring of affection from the Chelsea supporters during and after his final home match in charge, saying: "It was a nice way to say goodbye, with a victory. It was nice appreciation from the crowd and to be honest, I did not expect this when I am here for a relatively short period to do my job."

No decision on Ancelotti's future

AC Milan's President, Silvio Berlusconi, insists that no decision has yet been taken over the future of Carlo Ancelotti amid renewed rumours that the coach will join Chelsea.

Ancelotti has been mooted as the favourite to be appointed as Chelsea's new manager when Guus Hiddink steps down from his temporary role after the FA Cup final. Reports in Italy have claimed that Ancelotti would be confirmed as the Blues' new boss at the end of the month and would keep Hiddink's No.2, Ray Wilkins, as his assistant.

There have also been suggestions that Milan would sack the long-serving coach following the club's failure to mount a serious title challenge. Berlusconi was critical of Ancelotti last week after claiming that his tactics had ruined the Rossoneri's prospects of dethroning city rival, Inter. However, the Milan supremo says that nothing has been decided except that a young coach will be appointed if Ancelotti does leave, sportinglife has reported.

"Ancelotti is a person of our family. We will find a solution for his and our good. If we have to part ways, and I repeat that for the moment there is nothing that has already been decided, we will take a young and emerging coach," Berlusconi told the Italian media.

Milan's former striker, Marco van Basten, has been linked with the job after he quit as coach of Ajax earlier this month after just one season in charge. Berlusconi has hinted that the Dutchman could be considered for the role. According to him, "Marco is like a son to me and is a part of the history of Milan. Now, many young coaches have broad shoulders and are ready for a big club."

Education / STRIKE AGAIN!!!
« on: May 06, 2008, 09:09:36 AM »
Just the last week the Academic Staff Union of the Nigerian Universities embarked on a one week strike action. This is as a result of the government not giving heed to their demands. This strike action is just a warning a strike as failure to meet the demands of the Association means that there will be an indefinite strike action in a months time which is precisely June.

Now with all these strikes, how will the students in the federal and state university cope? What will happen to us. Its alarming, they are killing our education and its really telling on the society.Something has to be done.

But what? How? and When?

Solve this if you can

There are 3 doctors and 3 madmen going for an operation. These six people in total has to cross a river before they can get to the hospital..........there is a boat and this boat can only allow two people in it. How many times will they have to cross to get to the hospital?

Note: The number of madmen must not be more than the number of doctors.

Fashion / BE THE REDS: WHAT DOES IT MEAN?
« on: December 19, 2007, 11:52:53 AM »
There is T-shirt that is all over town now. The perscription on it is BE THE REDS. I ask myself what does this mean? Everywhere you go, you see people putting on this red top.
The guys, the ladies/girls, even our older women, the men. Everybody, be the reds.

What does this cloth signifies? Is just a designer's name/shirt? What does it really stand for.
If you are observant with the society then you will know what i really mean.
The shirt is just so rampant nowadays.

General Discussion / SO FAR SO GOOD
« on: December 14, 2007, 04:26:22 PM »
Hi all,

One week out of rubminds and its such a miss.
All along i have been very busy doing one thing or the other. Well Well......... with my time out of rubminds i tried to look at life itself as a whole. What is life made of, so far so good what have i achieved? What is my aim and purpose in life. Life indeed is a race and only the fittest yes the fittest can run this race. It is a journey that has a far end, it is so loving and also very tough. It is a batlle that must be conquered but i ask myself how many of us can conquer this battles of LIFE.

This short note is just to announce my arrival back to rubminds. while i was away, i know there has been so many interesting posts.

I went on break from my busy schedule and decided to log in to rubminds, few minutes into rubminds i got the shock news of my life, a friend, brother and an outstanding student has just passed on. At the age of 16, an hardworking and a brilliant student.

I couldn't but stop what i was doing as i placed my hand on my head not knowing what to do. I said to myself, this is a boy that just finished his SSCE examinations(WAEC and NECO), a boy with a bright future who is just need to write the next jamb exams to get into one of the private universities in Nigeria.
I couldn't utter a word, i was dazed and pushed to the wall. It was as if it happened to me, i felt the pain in the inside of me, and i wonder death what a mystery in life.
This bot died without a pinch of sickness, he slept and woke up at about 6.00am in the morning with a shout and could not breathe from that moment. He was rushed to various hospitals but alas he was dead before he was even taken from the house.
This can simply be tagged as a mystery. A boy who was healthy, very healthy, without a trace of sickness suddenly was laid to rest without sickness.

Then........i wonder, death how close it can be, how painful it can be. I looked up and i tried to question God. But no one can question the wonderful and great thgings God does. Who are we to question HIM, He knows best and He knows why He let this happened.
In the Holy Book in Ecclessiastes, To everything there is a season, and a time to every prupose under the heaven..............A time to be born.............and a time to die.........a time to plant and a time to pluck that which is planted.....A time to kill and a time to heal.............etc.
Gos in His awesome power knows best and we live all to Him. we give all thanks and praises.

Death.....oh the pains it brings, the sorrow it pours on the bereaved, the agony of death. Death where is thy sting? Where is thy strength? Where is thy power?..........You come like a thief in the night and you steal away that precious diamond.

It can happen to anyone but we need to watch and pray.

..............Remember now thy creator in the days of thy youth, while the evils days come not, nor the years draw near, when thou shalt say i have no pleasure in them.

We must be careful friends. Put God first in all you do and may the promise of God in our lives be fulfilled in Jesus Name.

Well guys i'm back now and i have decided to put the past behind and look forward...............i'm here again and its time to beat those who think they are ahead of me.....hmmmm...well.....well. ..dey knw demselves. Shld i give u guys hint? Knw...knw..knw i wont.

Check out mekoyo's column, new posts and new topics, also check out what is going on in the sports section...so many more to come from mekoyo.

I.m back and better.

Its mekoyo signing in to rubminds!!!

Jokes / A VIRGIN'S WORST NIGHTMARE
« on: November 16, 2007, 04:30:12 PM »
A virgin's worst nightmare

A girl asks her boyfriend to come over Friday night and have dinner with her parents. Since this is such a big event, the girl announces to her boyfriend that after dinner, she would like to go out and make love for the first time.

                       * * * * * * * * *
Well, the boy is ecstatic, but he has never had sex before, so he
takes a trip to the pharmacist to get some condoms. He tells the pharmacist it's his first time and the pharmacist helps the boy for about an hour. He tells the boy everything there is to know about condom and sex.

                       * * * * * * * * *

At the register, the pharmacist asks the boy how many condoms he'd like to buy, a 3-pack, 10-pack, or family pack. The boy insists on the family pack because he thinks he will be rather busy, it being his first time and all.

                         * * * * * * * * *
That night, the boy shows up at the girl's parents house and meets his girlfriend at the door. "Oh, I'm so excited for
you to meet my parents, come on in!"

                          * * * * * * * * *
The boy goes inside and is taken to the dinner table where the girl's parents are seated. The boy quickly offers to say grace and bows his head.

                          * * * * * * * * *
A minute passes, and the boy is still deep in prayer, with his head down.
                          * * * * * * * * *
10 minutes pass, and still no movement from the boy.

                          * * * * * * * * *
Finally, after 20 minutes with his head down, the girlfriend leans over and whispers to the boyfriend, "I had no idea you were this religious."

                         * * * * * * * * *
The boy turns, and whispers back, "I had no idea your father was a pharmacist."

                          * * * * * * * * *
